Privacy Policy

At Dataflow, we are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your customers. Dataflow is a data platform that lets developers build, deploy, and manage data apps quickly, without wrangling infrastructure. We make Dataflow available in two ways: as a hosted SaaS product, and as a listing on cloud marketplaces (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Marketplace) that customers deploy and host within their own cloud environment. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information across both of these delivery models, whether you’re visiting our website, using our SaaS product, or running a self-hosted deployment obtained through a marketplace listing.

Information We Collect

Personal Information You Provide

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

  • Register for a Dataflow account
  • Subscribe to our newsletter or mailing list
  • Fill out a contact form, book a demo, or request a free trial
  • Purchase or activate Dataflow through a cloud marketplace listing
  • Participate in surveys, promotions, or support requests
  • Communicate with our support or sales team

This information typically includes your name, email address, phone number, and company name, along with any other details you choose to share with us (for example, in a support ticket or contact form).

Information Collected Through the Marketplace

When you acquire Dataflow through a cloud marketplace offer (for example, a marketplace subscription that you then host yourself), the marketplace provider shares certain account and billing information with us so that we can provision and support your subscription — such as your name, work email, company name, and subscription/entitlement identifiers. We use this information only to activate, support, and bill for the offer, and we handle it under the same protections described in this Policy. We do not receive your payment card details directly; those are handled by the marketplace provider (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) under their own privacy and payment terms.

Data You Upload to Build Data Apps

Dataflow lets you connect data sources, upload files, and build data apps. Data you upload or connect to build a data app belongs to you, and access to it is restricted to you and the collaborators you explicitly authorize — see “Isolation of Your Application Data” below for how this works in both our SaaS and self-hosted/marketplace deployments.

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website or use our SaaS product, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device information, time zone, referring/exit pages, and general usage patterns (such as pages viewed and features used). This helps us keep the site and product secure, diagnose issues, and understand how Dataflow is used.

Isolation of Your Application Data

Because Dataflow is used to build data apps, a core part of our design is keeping your application data separate from your account and contact data, and separate from other customers:

  • SaaS deployments: your uploaded data and the data apps you build are logically isolated to your account. Our personnel do not access your application data except when necessary to provide support at your request, to maintain the security and availability of the service, or where required by law.
  • Marketplace and self-hosted deployments: when Dataflow is deployed through a cloud marketplace listing, the offer runs inside your own cloud account and infrastructure. In this model, the data you upload and the apps you build stay within your environment — Dataflow does not host or have routine access to that data.

In short: the data you upload to build data apps is yours, and only you — and those you explicitly authorize — can access it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Dataflow website and product
  • Provision, activate, and support subscriptions purchased via SaaS or a marketplace listing
  • Process billing and manage orders
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, security notices, and support requests
  • Send marketing communications where you have opted in (you can opt out at any time)
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our services and understand how they’re used
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use the data you upload to build data apps for advertising or to train unrelated products.

How We Share Your Information & Who Has Access

We share personal information only in the following situations:

  • Service providers: with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, cloud infrastructure, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, and customer support tooling. These providers are bound by contract to protect your data and use it only to provide services to us.
  • Cloud marketplace providers: with the relevant marketplace provider (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.) to the extent needed to manage billing, entitlements, and support for offers purchased through their marketplace.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of company assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
  • Legal requirements: where required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid request from a public or government authority.
  • With your consent: in any other case, only with your consent or at your direction.

Internally, access to personal information is restricted to Dataflow personnel who need it to do their jobs (e.g., support, billing, engineering for security/maintenance), under confidentiality obligations. We never sell your personal information.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as local storage) on our website to keep the site working correctly, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our site. This includes:

  • Essential cookies — required for core site functionality (e.g., security, load balancing)
  • Preference cookies — remember choices you’ve made, such as cookie consent settings
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand aggregate usage of the site so we can improve it

When you first visit our site, a cookie consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your preference at any time, and you can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies; note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.

Data Security

We implement technical and organizational security measures designed to protect personal information and application data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access — including encryption in transit, access controls, and the account-level data isolation described above. For marketplace and self-hosted deployments, the security of the underlying cloud infrastructure is a shared responsibility between Dataflow and you as the customer, consistent with the shared-responsibility model of the relevant cloud provider. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you close your account, we delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.

Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Right to Erasure — request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain conditions
  • Right to Restrict Processing — request that we limit how we use your information, under certain conditions
  • Right to Object — object to our processing of your personal information, under certain conditions
  • Right to Data Portability — request that we transfer your data to another organization or to you, under certain conditions

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the end of this Policy.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the one in which you reside, including countries whose data protection laws may differ from your own. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to be protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Our website and product may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not operate or control, including the cloud marketplaces through which Dataflow offers are distributed. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Children’s Privacy

Dataflow is not intended for individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated Policy on this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
